helix. double helix. helix. double helix.

visited the Helix Bridge (and the surroundings) for the FIRST time yesterday! it was formerly known as the double helix bridge... so wat difference does it make if it were Helix or DOUBLE Helix? *frowns* muz be some fengshui theory... ... ...glittering gold welcome!alright let's talk abt the bridge... first of all, i have to admit that truly it was a fine piece of art, albeit the fact that practicality me starts to ponder where one runs to hide from the sun and the occasional sudden rain in singapore.

people were furiously taking photos, so i also dun su say! i whipped out my DSLR (it's called the apple iphone) to join in the fun! oh well, and hence explaining the quality of the pics. =(

so here you go! the (very young) artist's impression of the bridge...
and the bridge at its finest. =)
btw, does anyone happen to know those bright red and green lights on the ground that read "C", "G", "A" and "T"? update me if u do!
ok i am not doing any justice to the magnificent piece of art.. there's somewhere with nicer pics though, check it out here for more real solid pics!

the very-talked-about big bowl at MBS that keeps alot of water (read: wealth) and that the water will flow into the building.on second thought, i tink it will flow into here... the wealth i meant. i tink it's ALL abt fengshui over here yea...
and the very big 香奈儿dat's not yet open. i am more enthusiastic abt the LV though. hahah.
and more art... we are an artistic nation...

**********

oh and did i mention we checked out the hotel rooms... it appeared that the bathtubs are OPEN CONCEPT and overlooking the city. cool!well, for the rest of the unopened areas. will update if i ever will step foot there again... like they said.. NOT LONG UNTIL. =)

of buses and trainssss....

have you been to the newest circle lines mrt? i must say that these circle lines are indeed strategically placed everywhere! of all the mrts, i tink i love this circle line the most!

the other day, i took the mrt from the bras basah station. first of all, it looked like some bomb shelter. the walls are grey and dull. perhaps it was indeed a bomb shelter doubling up as an mrt station, not the other way round. and then, the platforms are situated way way way down! it's B5 for crying out loud!
oh and before u even reached the platform, pls overcome your fear of long escalators. and if long escalators aint scary enough to scare you, try going down a looong escalator with 3 HUGE, BLACK PIPES going over u! arrrrgh...
even the elevator shaft morphs through a wall of not-sure-wat to get you from one level to the other. =S
and the seats (if you have not already realised that they are seats) are meant for ppl with tiny butts.
oh, and pls DO NOT even try to play driver and look into the tunnels. u neva know wat u might see. *raises eyebrows*
indeed, tis aint for the faint hearted.... ...

enough is enough

well, it's not usually me to be emo, crying out for attention, having yoyo emotions, etc. after all, these are the very stuffs which i totally detest. but i have to admit that the past week was bad. =( let's juz say that i've opened my eyes to the condition of the human heart. After all, “ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?"

but i've learned something over the past week.

GIVE ADVICE; IF THEY REFUSE TO HEAR, LET ADVERSITY TEACH THEM.

well i wont say that i am back with a vengeance, all charged up and ready to go. instead, i shall adopt and sit and observe kinda mentality. let's juz see how far i can go.

on a side note, it's usually times like tis you can tell which your real frens are. are u a true friend? =\

贱招!

贱招 #1!

the other day we turned right into this road looking for a petrol kiosk... it was a loooooong road, and so we did a ''not-so legal'' u-turn. ha. the kiosk was EMPTY, the uncle muz be glad that they have customers! after that, we went back on track to get to where we came from.

and den we were stopped. by the police. he asked "where u all come from ah? u all made a u-turn behind or further down?"

"erm we made a u-turn?"

"cannot be, cos we closed the other side of the road already. so u all made an ILLEGAL u-turn.."

"... ... ..."

thank God he wasnt out to catch illegal u-turners! now we know why the whole stretch of road was EMPTY.

**********

which led me to recall wat happened long ago in school... 贱招 #2!

remember the Assembly period? the school was kind/lazy enough to let us off during Assembly period to do what they call "self reading". well since lunch time followed, some smart alecks tot that it was ok to go out of the school campus for an early long lunch!!!!

some 10 min into the period.... the FIRE ALARM rang. and the school gate was CLOSED.

attendance HAD to be taken.

and SO, those who sneaked outta school was caught. haha. (i was NOT one of them!)

MORAL of the story: Beware of 贱招s everywhere!

the Chicago musical indeed rox! well, it's me and weiwei trying to take pics of ourselves inconspicuously. but we ended up making a big hoohar over her erm, short arms. (thus explaining y we filled up the whole pic with our faces. zzz)
and tis is how high i was at.. no wonder one can fall to his death in the esplanade theatre. ||-.-
some pics i secretly took with my appy phoney. not too bad considering we were almost touching the ceiling. well we need to get better seats in future, earlier too.
well in conclusion, it's a show that's definitely worth the money. *winks*

idiom of the week

If there's one phrase to learn tis week, it would be this.

对牛弹琴 duì niú tán qín
· to play the lute to a cow (idiom); fig. offering a treat to a unappreciative audience
· to cast pearls before swine
· to preach to deaf ears

well, i guess i've been getting a lot of this lately. enough is enough.

lesson learnt: if you want to behave like a cow, i wont bother to treat u humanely.

"kar kar"

arrr! i picked sis up from the airport.. and guess wat? an uninvited guest followed me home! first to supper den back home! argh!

i've decided to adopt it. it's called "kar kar". can u spot it? hehe.

extreme makeover!

for once, i am finding my cab fare worth the while. woke up at 8.44am when i snoozed a missed call. and i was supposed to be at CHINATOWN at 9am! sigh, talk abt setting a good example. thank God uncle cabbie is fast! ha, abit funny, cos i ended up directing him the way with google maps. uncle cabbies shld use iPhones too!

oh yes, and this is me and our group's team leader, kenneth! really gotta say that he rose up to the occasion when i tasked him with this responsibilitY! here's to our morning tea before the real cleaning up starts!
our group photo before we set off each separately to our designated home. we got a 3 room flat, and i was quite glad as we get to PAINT! ha, wat's Extreme Makeover without painting man!
sadly, i din manage to take pics of the super duper RETRO home. so if the cameramen have any pics, i will go steal from them! =(

TIS is the ONLY pic i took of the super duper RETRO home. check out the tiled walls! OLD SCHOOL! well, the dust on the newspapers happened to be residing in the room's aircon for god-knows-how-long... arghs! oh and i will still attempt to steal more photos if the rest of the ppl post them up!

all in all, it was a fun, albeit tiring event. special thanks to those who made the event an enjoyable one!

DOLL domination?

You Are Very Dominant
You are intensely competitive and extremely successful. You tend to naturally rise to the top of any field.

You are obsessed with your goals, and you won't let anyone or anything stand in your way.

You tend to like to be in charge, and it drives you crazy when you have to be subordinate to others.

You are forceful, strong-willed, and even a bit bossy. Often times, it's your way or the highway.

Which Big 5 Personality Traits are You

another of my lunch time getaway-and-do-some-quizzes... tis following displeasure in the way others do their job. issit WRONG to demand DETAILS and EXCELLENCE?

You Are Conscientiousness
You are extremely detail oriented and organized. You do a thorough job.

You stick with whatever needs to be done, no matter how long it takes.

You are highly motivated and energetic. You are a valuable employee and a trusted friend.

You are a planner, and you follow through with your promises. You take your commitments seriously.

procrastinate!

You Should Procrastinate
Believe it or not, procrastinating is actually pretty good for you. So go ahead and do it.

You work well under pressure, and deadlines don't bother you. In fact, the less time you have, the better.

If you put off a task, you get it done more efficiently. There's nothing wrong with using procrastination as a way to motivate yourself.

Whether you procrastinate or not, you'll eventually get the job done. The only difference is, if you procrastinate, you might do a better job.

Me time

It's during times like tis, when I'm in the train on the way to the far far west, when I really have some "me" time to myself.

Well the week has been busy. Monday was the ever horrible month end close and reportings for quarter month. And it didn't help much that the (kan cheong spider) boss requested for some reports of SIX customers for the last SIX months to be ready in a jiffy. If they had provided me with a server instead of a thinkpad I might make it happen. But nonetheless, I thank God day my thinkpad did not fail me in the most urgent of times. :)

Tuesday was Pastor Z's birthday celebration at Fish & Co at the Glass House. Bday celebrations are always fun when there's many many ppl. I doubled up as the balloon holder, and even contemplated smuggling the balloons home! (pics to be up soon!)

Wednesday... Met misa up to visit her friend's mom in the hospital. Apparently her persistent, but ignored, coughs turned out to be a lung infection plus tuberculosis. Well, she didn't make it. Lesson learnt: cherish ur loved ones & never ignore small ailments. :(

Thursdays are always my tuition day! At least till october tis year. It's fun cos I get to hang out with young kids once again! And dinner is provided and I get paid! Like I've mentioned, I love employability!

Friday is CG day! A time for us to sit down and thank God for all He's done for me. A time for us to encourage and exhort. A time for me to be reminded of the call of God. Indeed it's TGIF!

And hence, tis the only "me" time I have to meself. During the journey to jwest in the train. Not a time to play some games with my iPhone nor to track others in Twitter, but a time to... Let's juz call it "take a breather". :)

live and let live

to all the hurt, the hurting, the unjustified, the bruised, the wounded...

You been holding back
And I know you're afraid to feel
Some one hurt you long ago
And the wounds just did not heal

You never shed a tear
You had to keep control
So the wounds kept spreading
Until they got down in your soul

Been holding onto anger
Now it's got a hold on you
And bitterness keeps growing
Affecting everything you do

Time to break the chains
You could slip them off today
It's time to make some changes
Before your whole life slips away

Don't you think it's time
Time to forgive
Leave the past behind
Live and let live

alice-si

You Are the Mad Hatter
You are zany, kooky, and frankly, a little crazy. Others suspect that you're not all there.

Crazy or not, you know how to have a good time. You are passionate about the things and people you love.

You are emotional, over the top, and unpredictable. People can't help but love you, even if they're a little scared of you.

You are impulsive and driven by your gut reactions. You have no problem saying what you think or feeling how you feel.

**********

oh so verry true. anyway i have a deprived childhood. i didnt know alice had to shrink to get thru the door to wonderland. =\

Try me.

Argh. It's been a really trying week. First of all, got my heel badly blistered playing captains ball with borrowed shoes. So much so it's kinda infected. It's RED every day. :(

Den, emotions went full swing with some unhappy events. Well, we juz got to accept the fact that disappointments are part and parcel of life aren't they? Welcome to the real world.

But at the end of the day, I thank God for my faith-filled (albeit weird, funny, chu pattern) kids. Keng, Ting, Misa. Really encouraged me juz when I needed it. Thanks guys. :)

the best of Genting 2010

while the entire world flocked to singapore to witness the grand opening of Resorts World Sentosa, we chose to emigrate out of the island to Resorts World Genting instead. and here's our landing pad...=D
really, this place doesnt change in a zillion years. except well, maybe the weather. brother earth is not feeling too well lately.. having fits and fevers in every parts of the world. hazy at home, and warm here. i used to be dashing back to the hotel lobby the moment i stepped into open air, now i can wear shorts. =(

well, it doesnt matter whether u are 3 or 30, u will enjoy the rides all the same! for the not-so-adventurous, let's juz start with the caterpillar ride. haha, the name pretty much explains the speed of the ride. =S
and for the adventurous (like ME!), try the roller coaster! not this one though. the sight of a repairman at the top of the tracks, kinda reminded me of Final Destination 3. so.. nono for tis one.
after a sizeable amounts of rides (enough to breakeven our admission fees), we headed for some old-folks activities. wat to do, i aint young anymore, cant always be playing rides. so off to my fav STARBUCKS we go, to la kopi! hahaha! and lotsa food too.
and finally, to rest our legs, this is ITCHY with full CAPS i tell u.. small fish is bad enough, kudos to all those tried the big fish! scary! (can u see!
on a side note, the TOKYO SKYDIVING TEAM was in Genting too. i wonder if they need to take a coach/cable car down the mountain, they can juz skydive. hehe.
oh, and the 3 GOOD MEN, i heard them sing live, they are really good. happened to be tis:

the world of louis vuitton

yay! hubby bot me a LV! real! airflown! from milan!

come to think of it... it was pretty rash of me to get tis yea? i change wallets every now and then, but i cant afford to change tis every now and then right? hmm i need to use it for a 10 good years, to armotize the value to... $75 a year. zzz.
nonetheless, i am elated! and tis will prolly keep me occupied for ahem, a few months, before i eye the next big thing. heh.

work it out, baby!

over the same weekend, tenant#1 moved out of our house... well, he left behind some stuffs (like a whole load of rubbish, and an absolut vodka), and spoiled some too. =(

and so, we moved into the "chalet" to stay over the weekend. woke up on a sunday for a morning swim, headed to mcD at ridout tea garden for breakfast (so UP can!) and den went back to wait for the enthusiastic gymaholics, 3 of them to be exact.

~guess who!~
while they hogged the threadmills, i headed for another swim. finally ended the day with duck rice at pioneer followed by a happy AGM. =)

LIFE IS GOOD.

arise & build

over the weekend, we took the opportunity to play some games! i muz say that this build the track game is pretty fun... would love to play it again if there's a chance!

mel makes me happy!

the 重点 here is: I AM 21 YEARS OLD!!! wahhahaha.... see? if u say it long enough, it shall be established as FACT.

earthquake moved the earth!

The massive earthquake that struck the west coast of Chile last month moved the whole city of Concepcion at least 10 feet (3 meters) to the west, scientists say. It also shifted other parts of South America that are far removed from the center of the disturbance.

another quizzy... too simple to be true...

You Are Bright and Cheerful

You're the type of person who always has something to smile about. If the sun is shining and the birds are singing, that's enough for you.

Other people find you to be a breath of fresh air. You have a childlike innocence that others lack.

You like to make other people smile, and you're likely to say something to lighten the mood.

You want to be a joy to be around, and you try to keep your problems and worries to yourself.

*rOar*

You Are a Lion
You are a highly charged, emotional person. You are very restless and energetic.

You tend to be moody and a bit impulsive. It's easy for something or someone to get under your skin.

You are quick to take action. You act on your intuition, and you're always ready to get going.

You are very sensitive and even a bit touchy. You have a pretty frightening temper.

"pretty frightening" is an understatement. let me reiterate: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

suntec city

every now and then, we need to remind ourselves that miracles do happen. =)

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Pros of moving to Suntec

1. It's a 5 min bus ride / train ride from my place! -> I'll not be late for svc!
2. I'm walking distance away from Starbucks! and Topshop & MNG & Zara & etc! -> It's ahem near to the marketplace? :p
3. Friends will not say it's too far east / west when I invite them to church! (Mel, I'm talking abt you.)

What more can I ask for? :)

- Posted from my iPhone

Church to co-own Suntec

Amid cheers from the congregation, City Harvest Church (CHC) yesterday announced that it will pay $310 million to become a co-owner of Suntec Singapore, a prime piece of downtown real estate.

Senior pastor Kong Hee broke the news first at CHC's service at its Jurong West building, then later at another service at the Singapore Expo in Changi.

He said CHC had acquired a 'substantial stake in a consortium company that owns 80 per cent of a joint venture fund that owns Suntec Singapore'.

The complex's full name is Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The $310 million includes the cost of acquiring shares in the consortium, rental costs, renovation costs and others.

Suntec Singapore was acquired by ARA Asset Management through the ARA Harmony Fund last year, with its investors comprising Suntec Reit - which holds 20 per cent - and a consortium company which holds 80 per cent.

**********

This has been the best kept secret in the church's 21-year history, and by far the best piece of news in 2010. =)

Remember...

Remember the day I borrowed your brand new car and I dented it?
I thought you'd kill me, but you didn't.

And remember the time I dragged you to the beach and you said it would rain, and it did?
I thought you'd say, "I told you so." But you didn't.

Do you remember the time I flirted with all the guys to make you jealous, and you were?
I thought you'd leave me, but you didn't.

Do you remember the time I spilled strawberry pie all over your car rug?
I thought you'd hit me, but you didn't.

And remember the time I forgot to tell you the dance was formal and you showed up in Jeans?
I thought you'd drop me, but you didn't.

Yes, there were lots of things you didn't do.
But you put up with me, and you loved me, and you protected me.

There were lots of things I wanted to make up to you when you returned from Vietnam.
But you didn't.
