Birthday Celebration, Surely

It's surely's birthday! Met up at an obscure part of Chinatown for a TìMSùM lunch and to also pass her bday present.

I bo sim-ly wrapped up my pressie for her with whatever wrapper remains at home... And that is the "happy wedding" wrapper. Ha!

Loitered to Bugis after our lunch to find ourselves getting all excited over free coke! Love freebies!
And I ended up being conned by the 2 of them to take neoprints. Yes, the kind we were crazy over back in secondary school. The only difference is that the machines have evolved to become more sophisticated! More features too!

And finally, our masterpiece!

banana boat!

as usual, the old foggies (aka us) are taking a sit-back-relax approach to this getaway. sitting by the beach enjoying the seabreeze is sufficient for us.
the HAVE to do something girls went ahead with their banana boat ride. obviously not knowing what they will get themselves into.
it didnt take long for us to figure out which is the most scaredy cat, judging from the screams, EVEN before the boat set off. @.@ this is BEFORE.
and this is AFTER. the unglam shot of 2 falling and the remaining struggling to stay on the boat. and all this while accompanied by the constant screaming. @.@
aftermath: relaxation in the pool. and body massage to follow...

FOOD in bintan

dun expect too much from a bintan resort, unless you stay in the nirwana resorts or the banyan tree resorts. (as explained by the lack of enthusiasm when wei was abt to board the designated bus)
welcome drink in a suspicious color. tastes like a cross between cucumber water and syrup water. would taste nicer if it were sweeter, heh.we were finally happy to have our first meal of the day. SGD 42 for 5 pax. normal tze char price ba...
juices are a must in countries like malaysia, indonesia, and the neighborhood countries. somehow their juices taste better and hmm, fresher.FOOD FOOD AND MORE FOOD!
the indonesian tom yam was so good we cant resist eating it twice in a row. so is the sambal kangkong! rice portions are huge, juz nice for me!

bintan!

BINTAN here i come! batam i've been, but bintan not... retrospectively, i should have gone to batam instead yea? they are almost identical, except that bintan is more expensive... what to do, they earn money from Singaporean tourists...
since i stayed the nearest to TMFT, i volunteered to get McD breakfast for the rest! hopefully it was a perk to get them to reach early on time (to no avail, zzz.) nonetheless, they are happy with their breakie!
~ferry ride of 45 min - 1 hour~
this is us adopting the relax approach to travelling...
while the girls juz cant sit still and do nothing. they HAVE to do something, so they whipped out their monopoly deal!

The Marriott High Tea

Yes dats me looking v contented with my self made Laksa. Dats juz about it at the Marriott high tea, our team connection which almost, well got boss into trouble with MOM. Let's not go into that topic. -.-
Anyway, my take is NEVER go for 1-for-1 or highly discounted buffets. Their portions will almost all the time be highly discounted too.

I ended up eating dumplings, chicken nuggets, pau, hardened prata and so on. Only consolation, I get to make my own Laksa.

on a side note, ended up at wisma pazzion and bought myself a pair of blings blings! lena helped me get the 10% discount too! yayness!

The Windsurfers' Dinner!

Our ad hoc dinner tis time round was yet another accidental success (after tireless rounds of SMSes and rescheduling). But it was good meeting them again!

Am always very impressed and provoked by how the Windsurfers have managed to look so good after all these years.

We have learned the art of DECIDING resolutely on the venue to meet. Any violent objection, the objector does the rearranging. Ha.

Anyway, cyn decided on Tampopo, the place of black pigs. Grrr I'm definitely not a fan of black pigs, so thank God I found tis on the menu!

*hokkaido kani ramen!*
starchy with crab meat and crab roe, looks almost like shark's fin if not for the ramen hidden underneath.
And to accommodate the ever late laykhoon aka Late Queen, we adjourned to häagen dazs for ice cream! Heavenly!
Btw, the Windsurfers decided on a name for baby G: Kitty Wong. Hello Baby! Hello Kitty! :p

we are 100!

very seldom i talk about my work, but today, we are 100 years old! so proud of belonging to such a place as this.

the celebration in singapore is not very grand. we had screening of movie and popcorn (both of which we missed cos we were too consumed with catching the lunch bus).

there was also a commemorative book for all of us. i'll prolly take it to bed with me on those sleepless nights. =)

lastly, gizmodo's take on the centennial celebration looked pretty impressive. check it out.

nasi lemak revisited.

met up with lin alvin and siew tian for dinner yesterday. i supposed the last time i saw them was when i was about to march into my own wedding banquet and both of them were late. -.-

nonetheless, it was a great catch up session. geographically we picked the punggol nasi lemak place instead of the boon lay power nasi lemak... i paid $17.70 for:
1. 3 chicken wings
2. 2 fish
3. 2 eggs
4. ikan bilis
5. lady's finger
6. 3 otah
and 3 humongous plates of rice.
(worth it right?)

den we headed to With a Pinch of Salt for desserts! not a smart choice, i ended up burping banana split the entire night. =(

looking forward to more catch-up sessions! love hanging out with lin alvin and siew tian! they are funny!

Survey Survey Survey

With online surveys and deals and whatnots, I'm beginning to get a thrill out from filling in surveys online and claiming vouchers...

Never did I know that there is such a thing called "part II" to the online survey... And that requires me to make a trip to the survey company for focus group. Honestly, I hate focus groups. -.-

And so here I am, to Cat's disappointment, nope I'm not at newton for food, but to attend a Part II of the survey. Checking in!
*View from inside the conference room*
*The view outside! Looks nicer than Honeywell building anytime!*
Ok I muz be back to doing my survey!

**********
It's not a focus group after all! It's an online survey, juz that I dun really understand the rationale behind making a trip to the company to take an online survey. *duh*

Anyway, I finished my survey in record time and got my reward! Lalalala I'm a happy girl! Next up, mama's bday dinner at night.

MBS: The Dinner

Dinner at the MBS was at this v atas place called the Pizzeria Mozza. it's indeed a place where you HAVE to bring kimmy along. else u prolly spend 1 hour trying to decipher wats on the menu without looking silly.

*dat's us, with silly looking mimi who looks like she is some deranged bride*
"In the heart of OSTERIA MOZZA rests a free standing mozzarella bar, where a wide array of fresh items from mozzarella, burrata, bocconcini and stracciatella are prepared. The full liquor bar is backed by a stunning millwork feature and spills onto white marble bar tops where guests can gather to enjoy items from the mozzarella bar. The remainder of the menu features salumi, pasta, seafood and meat dishes."
*Our orders: Garlic bread, Funghi misti, fontina, taleggio & thyme, Bacon, salumi, fennel sausage*, guanciale*, tomato & mozzarella and the thinly sliced bacon with cheese of which i couldnt find in the menu, haha*

2nd trimester

God has been exceptionally merciful to me. Morning sickness and nausea and everything else faded away at the onset of the 2nd trimester. With the exception of leg cramps and backaches, I've been blessed with a smooth 2nd trimester so far. And I'm enjoying it by packing my days (and nights) with activities, before the time comes when I get all too tired for such activities.

For the fruitful month of June, these are what I was and will be up to:
3-4: staycation at the MBS
12: birthday dinner with mommy
15: supper with lin alvin and Mdm lock
17: buffet dinner with the windsurfers
18: TìMSùM breakfast with surely and cat
18: celebrate aaron's Bday at suntec
19-20: babymoon #1 (I call it #1 for the very fact that I expect a #2, of cos)
24: team high tea at ion orchard

Ok that pretty much sums it up. Hopefully, baby G loves hanging out as much as mama. Then I'll bring her wherever I go! :p

i'm lazy

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

MBS: The Waters

it's another one of those mornings where i dun feel like talking at all again. so i better get down to doing something happy in order to feel happier. -.- so here i am continuing my MBS escapade details.
what is MBS without visiting the sky pool! picturesque!!
*1,2,3,4!*
they seemed to have fun exploring the possibility of me floating with my tummy. zzz. and trying v hard to keep it afloat. well, i didnt. looks like i am not storing fats after all. yay! *look mama, no bottoms!*
and then after a while, i became hungry (again). ordered the french fries (at $8 nett). not v expensive considering this is the MBS.
when you are there, do remember to check out the jacuzzi on the other side. at 57th floor overlooking the garden park avatar scene, it's truly a different experience. the water jets are strong and the water is v v hot!
honestly, this is one place you should pay $20 to come up for the experience. after which, i dun really think there's a need to come a second time. but i tot there are additional charges for visiting people to want to swim. not v sure. for the price we pay and 5 of us get to come up, it's worth it! hahaha...

MBS: The Preparation

Since the MBS stay was part of Mimi's hen's party, yea she's getting hitched in July!, we had to have some preparation work done yea. Of cos to sabo the bride-to-be. Tis time round I ain't afraid of karma or retribution of any sorts. As for the other 3 girls... God bless them.

As usual, we did the first-group-reach-earlier-while-the-second-does-the-decoy stunt. Reached at 2pm to do the decor for the room. And with ad, Wei and me around, I dun see how made up the room will turn out. *sigh* quite a flop in that area.

So when it's time for ad to go fetch Mimi from the lobby, the 2 of us turned delusional almost immediately.

*I'm the princess queen while Wei is the bride wannabe aka turban-wrapped Aladdin!*
The rest of the stuffs are of cos prepared by the more mature and thinking ad and Kimmy.

*baileys, red wine, white wine complimentary of kimmy's wine cabinet | beauty masks to pamper ourselves at night | cupcakes specially baked by ad | and the BEARS (they're the highlight!) to celebrate together with us!*
I brought Cali, Latte and Caramel and they are beary beary happy bears!!!! :) :) :)

the Marina Bay Sands!

finally got ourselves to book the Marina Bay Sands for a staycation! (what to do, i'm too scaredy to fly anywhere else for other vacations)

and THIS marks the start of my long walk to the MBS. should have juz taken a cab or something.
but then again, the view which welcomed us from the room did help a lil. although for now, the so-called garden park does look like a scene out of Avatar.
and tis has gotta be the BEST deals ever! good rates! *PM for more details************
THE BATHROOM: simply loves the dual sinks! i think i need this in my bathroom too! then we wont fight for the sink every morning night!
THE BATHTUB: paid an additional $30 for the bathtub, which in the end, we din manage to use AT ALL! note to self: need to bring bath salts/bubble baths the next time we have a bathtub in our rooms!
THE BEDS: ad booked the room with the 2 beds. i couldn't really tell wat is the size of the beds. but they are v comfy and big!

My Daily Bread...
