i...

[crave for] katong laksa.

[think of] who on earth views my blog. how come the counter can go up to 600 over. so i've decided, pls sign off in the taggie board. let me know u exist. otherwise i feel a lil.. unsettled.

[want to] take a break. holiday maybe.

[pray] that i will always find the time to pray. refer to below.

**********

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came,
I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

i love belgium

for her Godiva chocs, her Hoegaarden White, her meatballs, her Crème Brulee. and not to forget her contributions to culture and the arts.

are you a couple?

YOU'VE held hands, kissed and maybe even spent the night with her. Yet, when someone asks if she is your girlfriend, you would stop dead in your tracks.

'Girlfriend?' you repeat, like a parrot. 'Well, we are dating, but I can't quite say she is,' you hear yourself say.

At least not yet, you qualify, as if the possibility of her becoming one excuses you from answering further questions about her current status.

The fact that both of you spend an inordinate amount of time together on weekends and display coupling tendencies further compounds the confusion.

By 'coupling tendencies', or what some call symptoms of coupledom, I mean a behavioural shift from a previous 'single' mindset to a collective we-two-are-one mentality.

You know, doing things like attending dinners, parties and dos with other couples and thinking or expressing yourself in terms of 'we' and 'us' instead of 'I' and 'me'.

The bottomline is, you are behaving as if she were your girlfriend. Yet, when people bump into both of you, you still refer to her as 'my friend'.

This begs the question whether there really is a need to formalise the relationship and, if so, when. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just adding the 'girl' prefix onto 'friend'.

Is this situation reflective of the modern dating dynamic, where, increasingly, more people are slipping and sliding into relationships without realising it?

You meet someone, you chat, you banter, and if you hit it off, you see her again. And again. During this time, you would, more likely than not, have got physical with her.

And before you know it, you would be seeing her fairly regularly.

But when asked about the relationship, you still mutter about being 'just friends'.

Things were different in the not-too-distant past.

It used to be that a guy would only hold a girl's hand or kiss her after they had 'gone steady'. This usually happened after he asked her if they could do so.

Going steady also came after the pair had gone for a sizeable number of dates to get to know each other.

These days, the notion of going steady seems to be heading the way of the dodo bird and the Tasmanian Tiger.

In fact, Ah Beng chat-up lines - surely a good barometer of the times - reflect this. 'Oi, Miss ah, ai kia steady mai?' ('Would you like to go steady with me?') is the norm these days, I'm told.

So, you may have the trappings of a relationship, but somehow don't seem to have the appropriate label for it.

That you are 'seeing each other' is the usual catchphrase of choice. And though it carries with it a connotation of commitment, it is not necessarily the case.

Technically, you could be dating 10 different people at one time and still not flout the rules of the game.

After all, you could justify your actions by simply saying 'But we didn't spell out that we were seeing each other exclusively.'

Which is why, I think, it is important for dating couples to set the boundaries and, in a sense, formalise things. If you really like her and are prepared to commit by seeing her on an exclusive basis, why not spell it out and lay your cards on the table?

Ask her if she would like to go steady with you and be your girlfriend from this day forth.

If she is unable to accept or reciprocate with the same level of commitment or understanding, it's a good indication that what has been going on was unequally-yoked.

It's a recipe for disaster because after a while, one party is going to feel that he or she is getting the shorter end of the straw.

If, however, all you want is just a 'friend' with whom you can enjoy some intimacy with from time to time, then keep the waters muddied for as long as both of you can take it.

Just be prepared to be told one day that your 'friend' has decided to move on to another 'friend'.

Oh, and that it was good while it lasted.

It's your game. You decide how you want to play it.

wat a scandalous night...

some outings, you cant afford to miss.. here we are on a monday, looking forward to knock off juz for that long awaited dinner date..

dinner was at pizza hut, a spontaneous thingy.. except for some minor glitches, such as appearing with sore feet, queuing for entry despite calling for reservations and a waitress who is obviously as blur as sotong.. the meeting was.. scandalous. wat more can i say?

obviously, pizza's aint enough for the scandalous night to carry on, so we had to proceed to our 2nd round: the mississippi mudpie! whOOwhee~! i wonder which is more exciting, the mudpie, or the tabloids.

oh btw, did i mention that even the mudpie (or issit the scandals) are not enough to let us call it a day (or night). so we had to move on to mcD's for our 3rd round!

hehehe, conclusion for the day. i am having wobbly legs and a bad headache juz thinking abt wat i've heard. and i have checked and double checked that i am not revealing anything here.

it's simply too dangerous. some secrets are better hidden forever... *winks*

sidetrack: i did up this entry solely using HTML! hehehe.. not rusty after all... not like some stoopid woman.. ask for the url of the pic, give me the url of the page. haiyer...

of crabs and more crabs...

the CC!(chilli crab, that is).and the tiny fried crabby from hokkaido..
muz have been eating too much crabs lately. beginning to walk (or in my case, drive) sideways nowadays. :S

**********

PONDER-WORTHY: have been reading someone's blog, no choice, it juz cant stop sending email reminders to notify me that she has updated her blog..

anyhows, the content of the blog seems to revolve around wat she does, and incidentally, that only involves some housechores, some shopping, and more shopping over the weekend.

which leaves me to ponder abt myself.. wat do you actually do over the weekend? something of lasting impact, or juz another activity that is enjoyable and self-fulfilling..

and then again, the argument holds, wat den is considered 'of lasting impact'? and for whom does 'lasting impact' benefit? *ponder ponder*

mango sale...

golden advice from cindykoo.. apparently i had'nt heeded it.. booboo.. collateral damage: $133.

i admire weiwei for spending ONLY $19. i admire cindykoo even more for staying home! (not for long though)

**********

something interesting though.. we went out of the shop with our buy, only to realise that the cashier forgot to take out the sensormatic tag when we tried to enter INTO bebe.

the other time i had tis happening to me was at skin juz the day before! poor eugene had to unwrap the beautifully packaged top juz to remove the sensormatic.

conclusion, shopping IS fun.

The "Drivers' Ten Commandments"

1. You shall not kill.

2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.

3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.

4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.

5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.

6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.

7. Support the families of accident victims.

8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.

9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.

10. Feel responsible toward others.

wow. kindly adhere to the ten commandments. God is sovereign. :P

thanks to dear tim for queuing for 2 whole hours juz for the yummy donuts! gan dong~!it's kinda funny when every one conveniently whipped out their cammy phones and started to snap snap at all the donuts.. and mr low made a comment that went unheard to all, except for tim.. it goes "my hotdog is now worthless" (he bought hotdogs from downstairs too)

the apply cinnamon is nice.. the white chocolate is nice.. every one of them is NICE! whoowhee!

on a not-so-exciting note, had a father's day dinner. waiting time juz for food to arrive is 1ish hour. oh well, the food tastes great.. but i am sure my mommy can whip up a dish like that, or even better. :)
check out the ugly fish and the diced chicken (obviously buried underneath the mutated huge dried chilli...)

thy will be done...

There are only two kinds of people in the end:

those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,'

and those to whom God says in the end, 'Thy will be done.'"

dun be lazy!

dys·lex·i·a: [dis-lek-see-uh] noun; any of various reading disorders associated with impairment of the ability to interpret spatial relationships or to integrate auditory and visual information.

People suffering from dyslexia may find it difficult to read, write, spell and understand written words. Thus, they may be misunderstood to be lazy or stupid. But they are not.

Prominent dyslexics include our very own Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, author Agatha Christie and actress Whoopi Goldberg. Obviously they must be very hardworking, so much more to compensate for their.. impaired ability.

QUESTION: are you lazy or are you a dyslexic? :P

IF. =)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

a day in the life of ms scatterbrain

the little blunders in life...

on waking up in the morning..
nopes, not from bed. from the sudden shock of kicking someone else's foot (when he crossed my path!). ended up stepping on my other foot, with the heel. ouch.

on getting movie tix..
who would have thought that shrek 3 is so sellable? at 2pm in the afternoon, there were left with less than 10 seats for a 8pm show. in plaza sing, cathay cineleisure and the picturehouse (or wateva it may be called). but thanks to my earnest friend who made the effort all the same.

settled for the fantastic 4 in the end. den came buying tix through the internet. stoopid me clicked on the icon "back" instead of "proceed" and hence spent the rest of the 10 minutes waiting for the blocked seats to be unblocked. wat a hassle.

den came getting the HSBC card juz to retrieve the tix. poor mornkey had to swing from city hall to toa payoh juz to get the card! arghs.

on offering to print stuffs for weiwei..
printed, brought, gave. but stoopid weiwei cant multitask of all things. i.e. cannot hold the papers in her hands while looking for her phone. so the stack of papers went straight into my bag AGAIN.

on losing my thumbdrive..
i hate losing stuffs. even if it were juz a plastic ruler. went helter skelter looking for it for the past 10 minutes. only for find it lying in the drawer. the wrong drawer of cos. the one i usually stuff all the tissue paper, the extra plastic spoons and forks from the takeaway lunches, and the tidbits accumulated from time to time.

but then again, at least i can laugh at my own silliness.. and be glad that i am still alive and doing something.. :)

i have weird friends..

that's really true.. for the past week, i've been in contact with the weirdest people around..

some people have a car, but do not offer to fetch their neighbors home. worse still their wife-to-be. but it's ok, i'm not the wife.

some people are getting married, but choose to keep their invitees low. but it's ok, i save my angbao.

some people are simply too earnest. but it's ok, it's good to have earnest friends around. makes the world the better place.

some people are getting all sporty, by joining a new gym, a new course, a new sport. but it's ok, she eats like crazy too.

some people go on a holiday to tibet! he should be wearing the feathery lama headgear (think an overturned mop), fetching water from the wells, and sweeping the courtyard. but it's ok, he'll get me a magnet from the monastery.

some people eat 1 and 1/2 black pepper crabs by themselves at a birthday dinner, and she is not the birthday girl. oh and, she happens to be me, moi, yours truly. but it's ok, i have to be all things to all men u see. gotta be a lil weird to have weird friends. hehe...

there you are, my sumptuous meal.. half finished of cos.. didnt occur to me that i should shoot a pic of it... :) and of cos, the close up of that which is making me all guilty and fat.. and crabby...

Friday, June 8, 2007

another busy day...

was on MC yest.. sick since 30 march.. finally decided to have some real rest.. since the end march period was emerge and i will not give up the world for emerge.. and back to work was a super hectic month end closing period.. booboo..

rested pretty well.. woke up some 12ish, saw the doc, came back and slept again from 1ish to 3.. woke up and decided to catch the pirates of the caribbean part II on DVD.. was almost late for driving..

the rest of the night.. was another tour-singapore-experience..

my journey started from eunos..

dunk donuts, not basketball~

here you go.. check it out here...

eventful days ahead...

yeaps.. been hanging out lately..

shopping. meals. meeting up. travelling. and more travelling.

how can i not shop during the GSS? in moderation of cos. learned my lesson of not overspending. (ms koo, if u happen to be reading this, pls dun deceive yourself anymore! hahaa~!)

had dinner at changing appetites yest. apparently, someone mentioned that the food is not nice. but the comments came one sec too late. i've alrdy made the reservations.

true enough, call it the self fulfilling prophecy or wa
t, food came and it was really not very fantastic. there are better ribs at hog's breath, better pasta at pastafresca, better baked rice at cafe cartel. but on the whole, it sure was a pleasant place to hang out. perhaps it has to do with the company. heheh.

as for travelling. been on the road quite alot. juz yest, i travelled from marina square to telok blangah to bedok to tanjong katong, den to hougang, bishan, sembawang and finally home. wat a journey. thank God reagan is a fast driver. :p

lunch was at changi airport today. at the same time went to send boss off to taiwan. when i got back, i'm simply amazed by how i can actually manage to squeeze in time for so many activities. in that short hour, i can even go send someone off at the airport! amazing...

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

an array of activities!

alrighty.. i'm back from the entire weekend of busyness!

where should i start?

FANCLUB AT THE AIRPORT
went to pick Sun up from the airport. it's so fun!

the next day, tank came.
FIR came. whoowhee~! she's so pretty!

ah qing was in town too.. didnt manage to catch him though..

FOOD AT AZABU SABO (is that how it's spelled?)
the food's juz ok, but the ice cream is superb! check out that place if u have the time. a definite must go!

wanted to post some pics. but blur me deleted all of them in a moment of folly. argghs.

EMERGE!
i can blog a whole lot about emerge!

maybe when i've finally gathered my thoughts.. still enjoying the aftereffects of it.. hahaha..

celebrities in our mi
dst.. a romantic wedding proposal right in front of 10,000 people.. seeing my kids have a vision for their lives.. watching them perform on stage.. hanging out with fellow leaders and sharing joys and sadness together..

one thing i can say, how awesome is this place..

SHOPPING AT MUSTAFA
i have to admit, tis the first time i visited mustafa. at 1am in the morning somemore. surprisingly, people still flooded the place like it's daytime at orchard road.

lots of stuffs. but i guess i'll pay a visit another time. shopping at mustafa requires alot of time for me to search and hunt for good buys.

COLORED MY HAIR
weiwei woke me up early in the morning juz to do my hair.. haha things we are willing to sacrifice our beauty sleep for..

oh ya, dat's me looking like i came from mars with all the aluminum foil on my head.. i have pics of weiwei too! but they all were deleted together with my icecream pics.. :(

chose a daring red, which is slowly evolving into bright pink. something i've always wanted to do, but i simply had no guts. hahah. nevertheless, now it's changing into the color i wanted all along!

next season's color would be... purple.. hehe.

SHOPPING AT SKIN
i am beginning to acquire a liking for the true religion jeans.. they're simply pretty with a capital P. and so, i got myself a pair of Miss Me. $140.30. after GREAT discounts (dun ask where the discounts came from...) coupled with my $70 voucher and weiwei's $70 vouchers. i only had to pay 30 cents. in the end, weiwei paid for it too! so i got my pair of jeans for FREE! yayyay!

THE MONTH END CLOSING
argh. dreadful. scary. overwhelming. never ending.

had to run 8 days' worth of reports in half a day's time.. man, i really gotta buck up on learning how to work under (tremendous) pressure. but oh well, all things, good and bad alike, must come to an end. thank God it's finally over. although not quite, but the bulk of the stress is at least gone.. phew~

hmmz.. that pretty much sums up my busy busy weekend.. will be back soon. haha!

Sunday, June 3, 2007

it's been a good week...
