they say DIAMONDS are a girl's BEST FRIEND!

JOHANNESBURG – Petra Diamonds Ltd. says a diamond the size of a chicken egg has been found at South Africa's Cullinan mine.

The diamond may be among the world's top 20 high-quality gems. It was discovered Thursday at the mine northeast of Pretoria, South Africa.

Johan Dippenaar, the company's chief executive said in a statement Tuesday that the 507.55-carat gem was of "exceptional color and clarity."

No value has been give yet for the diamond, which weighs just over 100 grams.

The mine also produced the largest diamond ever found, the Cullinan, at 3,106 carats in the rough. That finished stone is set in Britain's Imperial Scepter as part of the Crown Jewels.

church converted into magnificent bookstore...

should i marvel at the magnificence of modern-and-ancient-melded together? or should i sigh at the fact that the very intention of the church was never meant to create a bookstore in the first place?
Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” ~Mark 11~

surrOgates

From the director of Terminator 3: Rise of the machines, the filmmaking trio re-team to explore a future in which humans live in isolation while only communicating with their fellow man through robots that serve as social surrogates and are better-looking versions of their human counterparts.

People are living their lives from the safety of their own homes via Robotic Surrogates. Sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves.

It’s an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences does not exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Geer (Bruce Willis) discovers a conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

**********

If Surrogates are available now... my surrogate'd better look like tis:
and WHY?
  1. cos i can conquer the dance moves of "DOLL DOMINATION" without spending the next 7 years training up my abs, or breaking my bones.
  2. in line with the 2nd night race in singapore, my nicole surrogate will get me a seat in the PADDOCK CLUB of the singapore formula ONE gp! for all you noe, i might even get a chance to hold grab lewis' arms!
  3. look good even make up. period.
  4. and of cos not to forget the usual routines that my pwetty surrogate can do for me, e.g. wash the dishes, do the laundry, iron the clothes, make the bed, etc etc etc......
(no pics available, cos i dun really tink the real nicole does these stuffs anyway...)

Catch Surrogates in cinemas 1st Oct 2009!

mOtivatiOn?

"The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it."

thick and fierce

the soul food that never fails to cheer me up the most... FOOD! and tis time round, it's the Carl's Jr's THICKBURGER. Thick and Fierce. I like. (pardon the puffy eyes. =\ )
and i've almost seem to have discovered the art of eating without growing fat(ter):
1. have your heart rate increase to dangerous levels on a friday night.
2. receive 5 smses on a saturday morning telling you nothing but bad news.
3. receive another 5 bad ones on your way out from home (from the very same pple u are abt to meet).
4. struggle in your heart that after all that you've said and done, things/people remain the same and never seem to turn out right.

i guess such intense 'activities' of the heart also burn off fats too.

"coco before chanel" didnt really take place, but i'm glad we opted for the food (and laughter), rather than all of us sitting side by side looking at the big screen.
it's always nice to hang out once in a while. lurve the fellowship! =D

bittersweet. should i? should i not?

juz attended a meeting to inform us that we will officially be terminated from the current company as of 1 Jan 2010. for the first time in my life, i am being terminated/sacked/fired/dismissed. =( =( =(

and in exchange, we will join this new entity with seemingly better benefits, prospects?, and of cos greater responsibilities.. is that something to rejoice about? =\ =\ =\

perhaps i should seriously consider being a stay-home-tai-tai. my husband can support me. heh.

geography lesson

another one of the internet emails-pass-it-on jokes...

**********

The Geography of a Woman:

Between the ages of 18 - 21 a woman is like Africa or Australia. She is half discovered, half wild and naturally beautiful with bushland around the fertile deltas.

Between the ages of 21 - 30 a woman is like America or Japan. Completely discovered, very well developed and open to trade especially with countries with cash or cars.

Between the ages of 30 - 35, she is like India or Spain. Very hot, relaxed and convinced of its own beauty.

Between the ages of 35 - 40 a woman is like France or Argentina. She may have been half destroyed during the war but can still be a warm and desirable place to visit.

Between the ages of 40 - 50 she is like Yugoslavia or Afghanistan. She lost the war and is haunted by past mistakes. Massive reconstruction is now necessary.

Between the ages of 50 - 60 she is like Russia or Canada. Very wide, quiet and the borders are practically un-patrolled but the frigid climate keeps people away.

Between the ages of 60 - 70 a woman is like England or Mongolia. With a glorious and all conquering past but alas no future.

After 70, they become Albania . Everyone knows where it is, but no one wants to go there.

The Geography of a Man:

Between the ages of 15 - 70 a man is like Iraq......ruled by a dick.

it's 5pm...

and i am counting down to after work. not that the activities after work are more exciting, but well, it at least beats having to stay in an office with aircon close to my freezer at home, and have lotsa neverending work. =(

anyway, it's strange, but yes, i am looking forward to the pioneer mrt station duck rice. and a time of dwelling in my safe haven, in the far west. i am juz praying very hard that admin does not take long. else it will sap up wateva refreshing of the soul experienced earlier on. =(
