and Federer wins!

The Swiss produced a near-flawless display, delighting his fans with the full range of shots that have made him arguably the greatest player of his era, to sweep aside Robin Soderling 6-1 7-6(1) 6-4 and seal his first-ever French Open title. The triumph enabled Federer to become only the sixth man in history to win all four Grand Slam tournaments, and also saw him equal Pete Sampras’ record of 14 majors.

**********

on a totally random note, since i aint a big fan of federer, something else caught my eye while watching the game...

dun u tink the roland garros logo looks like my school badge? hehheh. wat a bimbotic thought.

sundOwn suppOrter!

"i am there to support mel & cindykOO! (how come cindykOO ran past so long ago liao and mel is nowhere to be found? so slow...)"

ang bao table!

remember to bao BIG FAT ang bao for me hor!

of dress sense and such!

the GREAT Singapore Sale is here!

not that we only get to find pretty dresses during the GSS, but we get to find
AFFORDABLE, VALUE FOR MONEY BEST BARGAINS! anything from the pretty lil pink PJ you wear to sleep, to the pink haute couture long dresses fit for a queen.

speaking of which, while we go crazy over the latest fashion and fads, the designer who ruled over Parisian haute couture for over 6 decades still had to caution us that "fashion fades, only style remains the same". Do we Singaporeans on this very small island have our own unique sense of style? *raises eyebrows*

as much as i do like to criticise the pple trodding down Orchard Road, let me first take a look at myself (and my trusted friends whom i know will not sue me for.. misrepresentation). ha!

from the classic to the casual, we have it ALL!

the (flora & fauna) themed:
the deluded (after watching 还珠格格):
the less than compatible glasses:
choosing a correct pair of glasses is also an ART, pardon my embarrassing fren.

the.. erm.. undressed (underneath the blanket):
disclaimer: actually got clothes on, lah. we are conservative people.

the flip flops in the weirdest of places:
who says people wear flip flops cannot buy porsche! dun pray pray ah!

the atas:
wat to do, we cannot afford expensive brands ourselves, so we can only gaze longingly at the bears who can.
and the PJ!:
pic of my aunty fren who frequents AMK wet market every mornin'
(oh pls dun kill me)

SO! the conclusion is... like how Ms Coco has aptly put: fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

and i thank God for the many many fashionable friends around me, who dared to live their lives walking around in flip flops and PJs, YET they carry with them a heart of compassion and love. =)

i am determined NOT to overspend tis GSS

How Smart is Your Right Foot?

Got this from a forwarded email... Issit really true?

"This is so funny that it will boggle your mind. And you will keep trying at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't.
1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.
I told you so ..... And there's nothing you can do about it!!!"

can someone try it and tell me? hahaha..

a quick pandemic primer

Epidemic - [ep-i-dem-ik]
An epidemic is an outbreak of infectious disease that attacks many individuals at the same time.

Pandemic - [pan-dem-ik]

MC day

something to cheer me up on my MC day..

beautifully created coffee!
i happened to be at a particular shopping mall where i will run the risk of seeing people whom i dun really intend to interact with, so here i am attempting the ''you-can't-see-me'' stunt. i tink its slowly beginning to work.

pinkoo...

PINK is my only obsession.. PINK is the color of passion.. lalalala..

but i gotta admit, some things simply do not look nice in pink.. zzz.

it's siti's wedding!

i need to say something cheesy over here.. it muz have been FATE that we get to work in the same company, started work on the same day, and shared a common enemy: SC. heh.

and TODAY, it's siti haron's wedding! sometimes, u will know when you are excited over a wedding, and when you are REALLY excited. tis time, we are REAAALLLLY excited. so happy for u gal!

beautiful bride~!
and we discovered something, malay weddings also dun start on time.. so dun turn up on the dot expecting the march in. hahah. in the meantime, we juz had fun trying to fit ourselves into the camera.

our faces juz got bigger and bigger and bigger.
beautiful decor! classic!

it's wendy's birthday!

and its been a looong looong time since i attended a 21st birthday!

the problem with 21st birthdays is that there are numerous groups of different people, the relatives, the classmates from various schools, the best frens, the cg pple, the zone pple, somewhat like a wedding dinner. ha.
BUT, we made ourselves useful! deck 5 was there to play beautiful songs for her, while peter SANG. *so sweet!*

weiwei and i were VERY useful too. we guarded THE card; the very very HUGE and CONSPICIOUS card. i even attempted my ''you-can't-see-me'' stunt, erm with the help of the plastic bag. =p
HAPPY SWEETEST BIRTHDAY WENDY! =)

revelations

i've learned that (on the human species):
  1. facebook / twitter / blogs tell alot about a person. i guess these are their avenues for ranting and raving.
  2. when one says he/she is VERY busy with activity #1, #2, #3 and so on, sometimes, it is not necessary true.
  3. when you require accountability from someone, he/she may not tell u the truth. But Truth has a way of finding her way to you.
  4. it pays to be patient, even to people who are always hot on your heels asking unnecessary questions.
  5. it does not pay to be stubborn. being a stubborn mule or an obstinate cow will only lead to dead ends.
on a side note, i've also learned that (on life in general):
  1. taking a feeder bus after alighting from pioneer mrt station only cost u $0.19 (after the rebate). wat a steal!
  2. i am more attracted to aries' diamond than to him as a person. ha.
  3. there is tis strange attraction abt gays. perhaps they behave more like us, and hence the herding mentality.
  4. godliness and contentment is great gain.

it's mildly therapeutic to juz stare at the cute avatars bobbin up and down "working hard". i suppose thats the reason y bosses are always noticing us work.

my random wedding phobias

not in any particular order:
  1. writing the invites and slotting them into the wrong envelopes
  2. walking down the aisle and falling down
  3. forgetting my vows like how you'd forget the very question u spotted and memorised for history exam the day before
  4. forgetting to say thank you to my wedding coordinators, sisters, etc. a big nono.
ok, will add on more as i move on. haha.

Google Could Have Caught Swine Flu Early

"Google’s search data may have been able to provide an early warning of the swine flu outbreak — if the company had been looking in the right place.

Last week, at the request of the Centers for Disease Control, Google took a retroactive look at its search data from Mexico. And there the team found a pre-media bump in telltale flu-related search terms (you know, “influenza + phlegm + coughing”) that was inconsistent with standard, seasonal flu trends."

Fren-emy

"Have you got a Frenemy?" - The pretend friends who secretly hate you and delight in making you feel bad

"They criticise your loyal boyfriend, turn their nose up at your favourite outfits and induce feelings of paranoia and self-doubt. Most of us have at least one 'frenemy' - slang for an enemy masquerading as friend - and this week actress Gwyneth Paltrow used her website to detail her own experience of this malign breed of acquaintance..."

Is there any woman among us who hasn't done a small jig of joy at the news that an enemy pretending to be a friend has come a cropper? Unfortunately, an awful lot of us seem to have had a frenemy or two.

She's the friend who invites you for what should be latte and chitchat and leaves you feeling inexplicably depressed about every life choice you've ever made.

i pray that all of us find the best in our frens...
and be a best fren to them too. =)

(untitled)

it's been a week of surprises. news and newer news to overwrite the previous, tasks and more tasks to top up the previous, and letdowns and more letdowns to let me down further.

i am beginning to learn that not all news remain the same, not all tasks get finished before new ones come along, and not all information are updated, or even attended to in the first place.

but i am still hanging on (with my dear life)! i need grace! maybe i should name my baby girl grace.

chicken rice again~

after being highly influenced by chloe and xueli's craving for chicken rice, i cant help but step into BTK again. oops~

it cost us some $28++ for a plate of veg with the 3 diff kinds of egg, and some roasted chicken. (should have juz eaten the normal-$3-a-plate-chicken-rice, zzz.)

VERDICT: BTK chicken rice really drop standard liao. =(

oh my surely!

surely is leaving! ='(

the only meals that i dun look forward to are farewell meals.

first of all, u have to deal with the obvious fact that someone is leaving, and hence the meal. =(

den everyone's eating but there's this awkward silence in the atmosphere.

den u feel there are many many pairs of eyes staring at you while you dive across the table for that extra piece of pizza/chicken wing. they muz install this detachable lazy susan in our meeting room tables, la.

nonetheless, i survived another farewell lunch. =(

driving range

the panorama view...
of the (now defunct) driving range..

yeps, not that i play golf, or even begin to learn. ha. there used to be a nice view of the driving range where i would gaze at whenever i took a break from studying at the fast food outlet somewhere off tuas, in the farr farr west.

it was a pretty patch of carpet grass, to the extent i was almost convinced i should pick up golf! now it has become a patch of grass/weeds/wateva u call it.

same for our lives/talents/gifts/abilities. however "pretty" the talents, if we choose not to use them the way it was meant to, den they'll prolly disintegrate to a pretty patch of white elephant. use wateva given to u, to the glory of God, my friends.

新宿事件

It's no more Mr Nice Guy for Jackie Chan as he trades his image of old for a morally-complex character who reluctantly becomes a gang boss in this thoughtful, if brutal, gangster drama.

Chan plays an illegal Chinese immigrant called Steelhead (so called because he's a mechanic) who arrives in Tokyo looking for his childhood sweetheart Xiuxiu.

Nothing has prepared our good-natured lover for the harsh realities of life in Japan, however, and he soon falls foul of the Yakuza. Forced into a corner, he must fall in with a rival gang to survive.

Lacking Chan's trademark stunt and balletic martial-arts, Shinjuku Incident is many miles from the goofy charms of the Rush Hour series. Dark, grimy and filled with conflicted characters, it's also a seriously bloody affair, with swords being jabbed through throats with alarming frequency.

The first hour of this 166-minute feature is a gentle affair as we learn of Steelhead's childhood and see his arrival in Japan. Then the gears crunch audibly upwards as we take a turn into flashy but familiar gangster territory. The ending's a bit sappy, too.
