the road not taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

~Robert Frost~

God is fair

that's y some face a tornado and some face an earthquake.
that's y petrol is pricey in some places and not in others.
that's y sometimes we win, and sometimes we don't.
that's y some of us are so in love and others not.
that's y we have angels for colleagues and some who pretend they are angels.

byebye hair

they say when a girl cuts her hair, or do something drastic to it, it was cos something drastic happened to her life.

not for me, at least i thought.

for the longest time, i've been keeping the longest, straightest, most boring hair. finally, i mustered enough courage to do something big. hehheh. and i thought that was cos i indeed did muster up courage. maybe subconsciously something really drastic. the death of a dear fren, the death of trust in whom i call friends, the death of expectations. i do have to admit, life has its way of hitting you where you hurt the most. =(

but my God is a God of resurrection, He is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

in any case, welcome the new me. =)

how do you raise a dead?

In 1974, the Korean pastor Yonggi Cho (Seoul) was urgently called to go home from an elders meeting. When he arrived there, he found his 5-year-old son dying. At that time, fruit in Seoul had been poisoned by a deranged person. As Cho was called to his son, 30 other children had already died of the poisoning. Cho told us at a conference: "I simply did not want to accept the death of my son. After hours of intense prayer and crying, he died anyway. Beside myself, I had to watch him grow cold and stiff, yet I still could not give up. I told God I will not leave this room until you give my son back. And my son lived!" Cho's son told his father that he had met Jesus in heaven and that he had seen many dead Christians from Chos church there, who shouted "Look, here comes the pastor's son!" Jesus told him: "I cannot keep you here, because your father will not let you go, so I'll send you back to him."

~jaz & jessica with randall, melody, daniel and jamie!~

Monday, April 28, 2008

it would be interesting if Jesus did come in person to your house & mine.

If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two
If he came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.
Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an honored Guest,
And all the food you'd serve to Him would be the very best,
And you'd keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there
That serving Him in your own home is joy beyond compare.

But when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your heavenly Visitor?
Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they'd been?
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard?
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
And I wonder if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?
Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read,
And let him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go?
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends?
Or would you hope they'd stay away until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know the things that you would do?
If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

beijing episode #8 - self-portraits

top reasons for taking 'self portraits':
#1: we are kiasee, that pple will run away with our cameras while we pose.
#2: and since they run away and we are too clumsy to chase, better not risk it.
#3: usually we cannot hiam the quality of the photos that other pple help us to take.
#4: it's an accomplishment to know that we are skilled enough to fit our faces into that tiny screen, simply based on intuition.
#5: we juz want to take ourselves. more fun lidat.

so, it didnt take us long to master the art of taking photos ourselves. in any situations, we cope juz fine!

~outdoor / indoor~

~dark / bright~

~cultural / simply glutton~

beijing episode #7 - the oh-so-very-great wall of china

they say you can see the great wall of china with your naked eyes from the moon. for me, it's awesome enough to see it right in front of you. a wee bit scary too.

~BEFORE~
[feeling] excited! yayyay finally we are climbing the great wall!!!!
~DURING~
[feeling] like an ah ma trying to run a marathon. tiring, lah!
~AFTER~
[feeling] thankful we are alive and there is such a thing called foot massage
so... we can call ourselves 好汉! cos we conquered the great wall (erm, 0.1% of the length, but still, better than nothing).

(notice in the ~DURING~ part, there aint alot of photos? hehheh, that's cos gladys was busy struggling for her dear life. she almost fell to her death!)

beijing episode #6 - imitation, the simplest form of flattery

seeing the many many stone carvings, we cant help but tried to be like a few of them to soak up some of their majesty. keke. after all, there muz be a reason why they are carved the way they are. aren't they supposed to look majestic and command respect and awe, or some sort?

sadly, the imitation turned out to be funnily weird.

**********

after a while, we grew tired of trying to be like the statues, so we decided to be part of them!

~weiwei finally found a trunk so big, it made her look slim,
while i decided to jump into one of the vats for a spa session.~

~we see more of weiwei trying to be part of the artefacts...
like looking for dandruff, playing the guzheng...
she's obviously having fun.~

~forlorn ad and glad~

~jiexiang, my bookstore next in line
& my beloved girls!~

all work and no play makes glad erm.. unglad

dat's y we are going to minds! hahahha... not a very exciting idea in the first place, but i guess, some play really boosts our morale a lil. played Blokus, easy to learn and play.. and den moved on to I'm the Boss, perhaps due to this desire in our subconscious state of mind to be boss over the real boss.. hehe .. not very easy to learn, but pretty fun haggling over share prices..

and how could we forget jenga.. the all time fav!
